State Duma Deputy Gennady Onishchenko explained why Russia should not leave the World Health Organization (WHO). Sputnik radio reported this news.

According to Onishchenko, WHO should operate in the form in which it exists until a worthy similar organization is created. At the same time, the deputy minister added that WHO is currently taking on responsibilities that “can be denied,” but that the bulk of the organization's work must be done.
“The World Health Organization must
work until we create something else, even though you can't create anything else. Just move it, replace the entire staff and move on, because you and I are both witnesses and victims. Sometimes there are times when an emerging infection is out of bounds and this is the primary mandate of WHO. Although now she takes on other functions, which she can and does refuse. But we cannot and should not refuse global surveillance, but we must and have an obligation to protect our interests,” he said.
Let us recall that on January 21, US President Donald Trump signed a decree on his country's withdrawal from WHO. Onishchenko later called the decision “very dangerous.”
