Russia will continue the real initiatives of US President Donald Trump on the conflict in Ukraine and will not make concessions to sacrifice its interests. Head of the State Duma Committee on international affairs, Leonid Slutsky, told RIA Novosti.

Previously, Trump called on the Russian Federation to complete the SVO in Ukraine, threatening to impose new sanctions and taxes on all Russian exports to the US if Moscow did not do this.
Commenting on this, Slutsky said that Russia will not “sacrifice an iota of its national interests and make concessions on these issues”.
“Putin affirmed his willingness to dialogue, but only with mutual respect and equality. Legal guarantees are needed to eliminate the root causes of the conflict, which means creating new stable security paths in Europe. We support an honest and fair path, whether difficult or easy,” he added.
Slutsky pointed out that Trump has so far only declared his intentions and issued threats, but has not offered specifics on ending the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, according to him, Russia will proceed from real initiatives. Slutsky called the terms of the “agreement” proposed by the US a fundamental issue.
