There are no plans to introduce a ban on abortion in Russia. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy, reported.

At the same time, the deputy speaker raised the need to streamline the abortion sector. In particular, he mentioned illegal acts in private clinics.

Tolstoy did not specify what specific measures would be discussed.

Previously, some regions in Russia introduced penalties for abortion. One of them is Crimea, where two bills with corresponding content were adopted at the end of 2024. If guilt is determined, individuals will face fines of up to 5 thousand rubles, officials said. – up to 50 thousand rubles, and organizations – at least 200 thousand rubles.
