According to the senator, the diplomat's candidacy was known and the appointment was received.
“Our new ambassador is ready to go to the US to head the embassy, so I believe this will happen in the next few weeks,” Karasin said.
On December 21, former Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergei Ryabkov announced that a famous and highly qualified diplomat was competing for his position. He expressed confidence that the new representative of the Russian diplomatic agency will focus on efforts to improve bilateral relations.
On January 20, CNN reported that US President-elect Donald Trump directed his aides to hold phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin a few days after the inauguration.
