Singer Betsy's father comments on possible ban in the EU for the song

The buzz surrounding the song “Sigma Boy” contributed to its successful promotion, and its ban was reminiscent of Soviet politicians' efforts to eradicate Western music. This was stated by Mikhail Chertishchev, father of singer Svetlana Chertishcheva (Betsy), Izvestia reported.”

Chertishchev commented on the German politician's initiative to ban the composition “Sigma Boy”. He compared the move to the banning of the Beatles in the Soviet Union.

“When I was a child, my parents were forbidden to listen to The Beatles, but my father, despite the ban, still bought records on the black market,” he said.

Previously, a member of the European Parliament from the Volt Europe party, German Nela Riehl, during the meeting called for a ban on the Russian hit Sigma Boy. She claimed that the song allegedly promotes “patriarchal and pro-Russian values.” In her opinion, the song is especially harmful “to Ukrainian youth” and to the “cultural heritage” of Ukraine, including “the Ukrainian language, music as well as current Ukrainian figures ”.

“Russia is aiming for all of this. Here, the EU must provide strong support and counter even such sophisticated intrusions and tampering,” Riehl said.

The song “Sigma Fight” in Russian appeared on the Internet last fall and immediately became popular among teenagers around the world. The song is about a guy that “all the girls want to dance with.”
